VizThink Toronto 1: Introduction to Visual Thinking

February 27, 2007 marked the creation of VizThink – at first a community organized event that I started in Toronto. Over the next 18 months it quickly turned into three large conferences (in both North America and Europe) as well as community events being run in almost 20 cities around the world – as well as a full time job for me.

For our first ever VizThink I wanted to teach people a simple and foundational tool that I had learned from Dave Gray, one of the godfathers of the Visual Thinking movement. And so, we started with the concept of “Nodes & Links” which I facilitated the group through a series of exercises to help them learn during our evening event.
