MaRS Centre for Impact Investing
In late summer 2011, MaRS announced the formation of the MaRS Centre for Impact Investment that, in their words:
provides a national hub to increase the awareness and effectiveness of social finance to catalyze new capital, talent and initiatives dedicated to tackling social and environmental problems in Canada.
As this was a large undertaking that also brought together stakeholders from a variety of organizations, including; MaRS, socialfinance.ca and SiG@MaRS to name just a few they wanted to ensure that it got launched as successfully as possible.
I was brought in to facilitate a day long off-site at the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts that brought the core team together a few months ahead of the formal launch. To help them get aligned and prepare for the weeks ahead, I designed a day that would help them both reflect on the path that had led them to their current state and begin to plan and strategize for the approaching launch and roll-out of the new program.
Overall the team had an enjoyable but highly effective day the met or exceeded all of their goals:
